Within Assessments
Related Information Contact Us Expedited System Impact Assessment ProcessA full impact assessment may not be necessary when connection proposals do not represent major system changes or would not have a major impact on the reliability of the integrated power system. In this case, an expedited SIA (which does not require a formal study), is conducted. Each box below outlines the steps involved in the expedited SIA process. The guidelines for determining if an expedited SIA is required are listed here. Submit Expedited SIA Application
The application forms and submission guidelines for the expedited SIA are the same as the standard SIA depending on whether you represent: The IESO determines if an expedited SIA is appropriate within five business days following receipt of the application. The IESO also notifies the applicable transmitter(s) of the SIA application. Execute Cost Recovery Letter Agreement
The connection applicant is not required to submit a deposit but is required to agree to pay for the total costs and expenses associated with all of their expedited SIAs by signing a Cost Recovery agreement. The IESO negotiates this agreement with each connection applicant before commencing the first expedited SIA. This agreement also covers all subsequent expedited SIAs initiated by the connection applicant. Production of Expedited SIA Report
An expedited SIA report is then issued by the IESO detailing the various requirements and criteria of the connection proposal, as well as a summary of the various study results. Publication of Expedited SIA Report
This report is then published on the IESO web site which contains a list of all transmission, load, generation and ancillary services connection proposals that meet the requirements described in section 9.2 of Market Manual 2.10.
