Day-Ahead Commitment Process

The Day-Ahead Commitment Process (DACP) is an important initiative undertaken by the IESO and its stakeholders to address reliability needs in Ontario’s power system in 2006. It uses the existing pre-dispatch process with some additional manual procedures that should limit the impact on market prices and uplifts. The DACP process has been designed to require minimal changes to both the IESO and market participant systems and processes, while ensuring the availability of generators one day ahead.

At its November 2006 meeting, the IESO Board approved the continuation of the DACP until such a time as another program is implemented that provides at least equivalent reliability benefits. DACP was launched on May 31, 2006 for the June 1 trade date and was not to be used past November 30 without IESO Board direction.

Detailed information on the impact of this process is provided on the right for the applicable participant sector.

Assessment of the Day-Ahead Commitment Process
Updated weekly, the DACP Assessment document (available on the right) summarizes DACP activity since June 1, 2006.

In addition, a DACP Review is published weekly to support this assessment.
