Digital Data Security

The IESO uses digital certificates within the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system to ensure that the information you exchange with us over the internet is secure.

PKI refers to the combination of software, encryption technology, and services that allow your organization and the IESO to protect the security of the information you exchange with us.

You must use a digital certificate when you use the Market Participant Interface (MPI) or your company�s own software using our MIM API (Market Information Management Application Programming Interface) to:

Submit bids, offers, schedules or forecasts
Submit physical bilateral contract data
Review your company information in our Registration system

To gain secure access to market systems via the PKI process, Market Participants will need to obtain �production digital certificates� containing specific identifying information about individual users.

Some of the registration steps are listed below.

Signing the IESO Certificate Subscriber Agreement (CSA) by the Market Participant Authorized Signatory.

Choosing one of three possible identity proofing models (or a combination thereof). The Identity Management Operations Guide outlines the proofing options available to market participants.

Submitting the IESO System Access Request and Identity Management Form (1276). (DOC)

IESO System Access Incumbency Letter Template

Installing the Certificate Lifecycle System (CLS) software and/or web based Certification Authority Entrust Authority Administration tool for the creation or recovery of a security profile. See Chapters 9 and 10 of the Identity Management Operations Guide for CLS installation and CLS and Entrust Authority Administration tool operational details.

Initializing the certificates of individual and/or application subscribers.
